Let’s talk about something very few acne sites or books mention – exercise, sports. You know that stuff that makes your sweat. Yes, that boring stuff that you know you should be doing but just ‘don’t have the time’. Well, I’m going to make a very bold statement here.

It’s very difficult to break free from acne if you don’t exercise.

How exercising prevents adult acne

I bet that you already know that you should exercise. You’ve probably been told that thousand times before. So I’ll just briefly mention few reasons how exercise prevents acne.

  1. Boosts immune system
  2. Helps the body to detox
  3. Stabilizes blood sugar levels – less food for bacteria
  4. Improves digestion and reduces constipation
  5. Reduces cravings for unhealthy foods

Blah, blah, blah… You know that already.

Let’s talk about something much more exiting.

Lets talk about feeling like a winner. That’s what exercise does to you, and that’s why exercise is vital in preventing acne.

You know what I’m talking about. You know the feeling you get after a good workout. The endorphins kick-in and you feel like on top of the world.

Put that image aside for a while and picture this.

Few hours ago you parked your butt on the sofa, and since then you’ve been numbing your brains by watching the TV.

Then you get hungry. You feel like eating something. Oh, what’s that there? It’s the home delivery menu from the local pizzeria (or other favorite junk food joint).

Then the little voices in your head start.

Mmmmmm… that pizza would be so good… and you can already see yourself enjoying the pizza, you feel it in your mouth… then you hear another, much weaker voice saying no, but I shouldn’t, because I’ve been eating so healthy for the past two weeks and my acne is really starting to get better.

OK, now stop and put those two pictures side to side in your mind. The one where you just finished the workout and the one where you’ve been watching the TV.

Now take my little quiz. For both the pictures check the one that’s more likely (I don’t think I have to explain the scoring for you):

[] I will burn the pizza menu (and all the other junk food menus) and perform a wild, tribal rain dance around the flames. After that I’ll eat healthy.
[] I will call the pizza place and watch my feeble efforts to improve my diet burn in flames. This is the health equivalent to Monopoly’s ‘Go directly to Jail – do not pass Go, do not collect $200′ card.

And that my friend is why you should exercise, and that’s why exercise prevents acne.

That’s a great way to put it. A little humor never hurt anyone, but pizza definitely can. Or, at least your skin. I’ll be burning my menus when I get home :)
