4 Simple Diet Tips To Prevent Acne
Here are few simple diet-related tips to prevent acne and ensure good health.
Eat light breakfast
This flies on the face of conventional dietary wisdom, but don’t let that disturb you. After all, the conventional dietary wisdom brought you the acne in the first place.
Did you know that your body is detoxing itself during the night? When you sleep the body is busy dumping the garbage and doing other repair and maintenance activities. This activity continues until you eat something and force the body to end detoxing and start digestion.
And no, I’m not suggesting that you skip breakfast. Just eat a light one. For example, green smoothies or fruits.
Ripe fruits require very little digestion and thus the body can continue the detox.
So eat nothing but fruits until noon. Just imagine this. Eating nothing but fruits before lunch gives the body at least 3 to 4 hours more time to detox, repair and maintain. That’s like having an extra full day of detox every week. Imagine what that can do to your acne.
And don’t tell me you can’t survive with just fruits. That’s just mental garbage blocking your brains. I’m 6’2 (189cm) tall, weight about 85 kilos and exercise 30 minutes to an hour practically every morning. If I can survive with fruit breakfast – so can you.
But seriously try it. You’ll be amazed how much more energy you have when your body is not busy digesting fatty breakfast.
Only light snacks after 7pm
Eating heavy dinner late at night forces the body to digest the food through the night. Result, nobody takes the garbage out and acne is one step closer.
Ever wondered why you wake up tired after eating heavy dinner late at night? Digestion is the second biggest energy and resource hog in the body. So instead of resting the body is forced to spend huge amounts of energy digesting the heavy dinner.
So try not to eat anything heavy after 7pm. If you get hungry in the evening just have something light, such as fresh fruits and vegetables. Small amount of nuts is also ok.
Eat moderately
It takes a little time for the sense of hunger to cease after you have eaten enough. So one good ‘rule’ to follow is to stop eating when you feel 70% full.
You’ll quickly notice that by eating a little less you actually feel better and more energized. Eating too much food puts unnecessary stress on your digestive system. Larger quantities of food take longer to digest – giving more time for bacteria to putrefy it.
Use fresh and organic ingredients
Chemically grown vegetables are usually full of pesticides and other nasty poisons that’ll just build up inside you. Organic vegetables are nutritiously far superior to chemically grown ones.
As much as possible, use fresh fruits and vegetables. Frozen or canned vegetables have lost most of their micro-nutrients (enzymes, vitamins, etc) that are essential to digestion. Food that’s alkalizing when it’s fresh can turn acidic after processing and preserving. You never really know how much preservatives they have added to the canned stuff. Not to mention that fresh vegetables always taste much better than frozen or canned veggies.

What about fruit having a high GI index, raising blood sugar levels?
@Jeff, most fruits actually have moderate GI. It’s only watermelon and a few other fruits that are higher in the GI index.
so that means fruit is alright for like every other day consumption?
+ also, if I get exercise everyday and eat really really well + not much stress b/c it’s summer (no school), what are some other possible causes for the small pimples (noninflamed) that I may get every other week or something like that?
@Jeff, everything in moderation, but for most people having some fruit isn’t going to be a big deal.
@Jeff, there could be a countless causes for acne. It’s much more complicated condition than what most people believe. But most common causes are: hormonal imbalances (exercise and diet helps to correct these), stress and emotional issues, using too many skincare products, lack of sleep, allergies, and external irritants (such as shaving the wrong way).
@Seppo:
okay. thanks for the help
