ClearPores Review:
A Tale of Broken Promises and Deceptive Marketing

8

Companies say almost anything to get you to buy their acne products. While some remain honest, others venture into gray areas. A case in point: Clear Pores.

Glowing customer reviews, endorsed by doctors and independent review sites, solid money back guarantee. On the face of it Clear Pores looks like an excellent choice. But lift the veil and you’ll find deceptive marketing tactics, angry customers, broken promises, and, oddly enough, penis enlargement pills. Join me in this revealing investigation and find out if Clear Pores is the right choice for you.

Clear Pores customer reviews

Let’s start by looking at what customers like you say about Clear Pores. Quick internet search gives the picture that Clear Pores is a highly-rated product with tons of happy customers. Unfortunately these so-called reviews only reveal a small part of the picture. These review sites portray the products in a positive light. When you buy, they get a commission.

When you look at real reviews a different picture emerges.

Here’s how real customers rate Clear Pores.

  • 2.1 out of 5 for effectiveness
  • 2.2 out of 5 for agreeability (whether it has negative side-effects or not)
  • 1.8 out of 5 for affordability

Out of all acne products I’ve reviewed these are worst ratings so far.

Dig a little deeper into the comments and the picture gets even bleaker.

  • Only 22% of the customer comments were positive, and many of them were fake.
  • After weeding out what I thought to be fake comments I was left with only 7% positive comments.

Clear Pores made my acne worse‘ was by far the most frequent customer complaint. Customers also complained the company never gave them the promised refund. You can confirm these yourself by reading the Clear Pores reviews at acne.org.

Next let’s look at the product itself and how it works.

How Clear Pores works

Having looked at most of the acne products in the market I can say Clear Pores offers nothing revolutionary.

The Clear Pores Skin Cleansing System facial wash and cream contain salicylic acid and a generous helping of other chemicals. You can find the same stuff in cheaper product also.

The herbal pills ingredient list features items that have been used for a long time in alternative medicine and have, among others, anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties. They could help with acne.

Still it’s only a pill. And a pill won’t fix problems that are linked rooted in diet and lifestyle; please read the what causes acne page for more details.

If you still think you can fix these problems with a pill I have great investment opportunities in sub-Saharan Africa for a savvy investor like you, along with some truly unique weight loss pills to keep you slim while you reap the rewards of your investment.

Clear Pores claims – Do they hold up?

Clear Pores website looks great, and it makes very convincing claims. Let’s see how they hold up under scrutiny.

Signed testimonials

The testimonials page looks very convincing. But it turns out many of these testimonials aren’t really testimonials at all. Click the pictures and read the ‘thank-you letters’. They are feedback from a customer survey! Somehow customer feedback transformed into signed thank-you letter. I find that a bit of a stretch, but it’s marketing so we can give them the benefit of a doubt.

Doctor endorsed

If it’s doctor endorsed then it has to be great – right? Well, read this and see if you still think the same.

Clear Pores is marketed by a company called Marabou Herbals. Besides anti-acne products they also sell other herbal products (covered a bit later). Somehow the same two doctors endorse most of the products sold by Marabou Herbals.

An honest endorsement or money talks and…?

6 month money back guarantee

The money back guarantee isn’t quite as solid as the company wants you to think. Reading customer reviews some people complain that Marabou Herbals took them for a ride when they asked for a refund.

A customer emailed me a while ago and asked if I know anything about Clear Pores. He complained that it didn’t work for him and was trying to get his money back. Despite being promised a refund for 3 times he’s yet to see a dime.

Rip-off Report has nothing on Clear Pores, but they have reports on other products by Marabou Herbals; here and here.

Even the company itself puts strings on the guarantee. They state this in the order page.

Money Back Guarantee
Please try our product for 90 days (3 Complete Kits) and if for any reason you are not 100% satisfied, simply return the empty containers within 180 days from the time of delivery for a full refund excluding shipping charges. The guarantee does not apply to those wishing to order less than the 90 day supply.

And the three month supply costs a whopping $264.95 (at the time of writing).

Seeing all this, I remain skeptical about the money back guarantee.

Rated #1 by independent review sites.

This one got me really pissed, and conveniently brings us to…

Clear Pores engages in deceptive marketing tactics

This is just the kind of thing that gives internet such a bad reputation.

Clear Pores boldly states in their site that it’s rated #1 by independent review sites. Next to it they show a screen clipping of these sites.

How pissed are you to find out these so-called independent sites and made and controlled by Clear Pores?

Here’s how I discovered it. I joined their affiliate program; meaning if I recommend Clear Pores to you and you buy it, I get a commission.

Inside their affiliate program they give me tools and help to promote CP, and these “independent review sites” examples of it. I got so pissed I took a screen clipping inside there. Click here to see it. They stated these sites allow me to “take advantage of the work and expertise of our team of marketers and copywriters“.

Here are two examples of these feeder sites and why Marabou Herbals thinks I should use them:

Web URL: http://www.skin-product-review.com
Description: Approaching ClearPores.com with a very medical feeling site is one way to assure your audience that they are making the right decision. Images of doctors and even the color schemes of the site make for a very direct and convincing marketing approach.
Web URL: http://www.my-acne-solution.com
Description: Yet another ClearPores.com marketing opportunity that makes sales happen again and again! My-Acne-Solution.com gives your visitors a personal touch with a “how I got rid of my acne” angle of promotion. Let this site pull your audience in with someone they can identify with. This highly effective form of marketing will make your next paycheck grow and grow!

Seeing things like this doesn’t make the internet marketer in me too proud.

About Marabou Herbals

Marabou Herbals is based in Gibraltar, which is a known tax haven – and outside the jurisdiction of most customer protection and law enforcement agencies. So, if they break their promises there’s nothing you can do about it – something to keep in mind.

As hinted earlier Marabou Herbals markets also many other products, such as:

  • ‘Virility solutions’ – pills for increasing penis size and sperm volume and for fixing erection problems
  • Weight loss pills
  • Anti-aging pills

If that product line doesn’t get your warning bells going I’m obliged to remind you of the lucrative investment opportunities I mentioned earlier.

So in summary we have a company operating outside of the jurisdiction of most consumer protection agencies selling types of products known for scams.

As such that doesn’t mean anything, but it’s not an encouraging sign either.

Final verdict on Clear Pores

This review was not negative on purpose but simply because positive, unbiased information about Clear Pores was hard to come by.

That said nobody can say in advance whether Clear Pores helps your acne or not. We all react differently, and acne products are always a gamble. They may or may not work for you. Still in the light of all the negative customer reviews the prospects for Clear Pores look dim.

A reviewer at Amazon put it perfectly.

Seems to me that you are taking a HUGE risk in trying these products for uncertain results. The products are EXPENSIVE, they evidently have NO customer support or GUARANTEE and I seriously doubt that if you do in fact see results that you can discontinue use of the product after 3-4 months and maintain clarity (which the company claims you can do).Clear Pores review by K. Clear pores made things worse!

Clear Pores was my first attempt at clear my skin and it made my skin SO MUCH WORSE! But everyone says it gets worse before it gets better so I tried to stick with it.

I got the first pack straight away, actually it arrived ridiculously quick, then the next pack took over a month to be delivered.
My skin was never really that bad before I used it but after 3 or so months I ended up going to a doctor because it was so bad.

I quickly lost faith in all products after Clear Pores, and the doctor’s ‘drug’ recommendations (Which also just made my skin angry) and now I’m going back to basics, diet and lifestyle, because that is the only thing that makes sense to me.

According to me the best thing that I can do for my body is:

Keep it natural, and keep it simple.

You pretty much nailed it with that closing comment.

Clear Pores wrecked my skin!

Clear Pores wrecked my skin so badly that I had to visit a doctor. I used to have only mild acne, but now my face is breaking out in cysts!

The customer service also lied to me. I tried to cancel my order 5 minutes after placing it. They told me they had already shipped the order.

I wouldn’t recommend Clear Pores to anyone. It’s very expensive and it sucks. Wish I had seen this review before trying it.

Already bought it :(

I was a sucker and googled ‘clear pores reviews’ and after seeing numerous websites stating it was #1 in clearing acne I thought I would give it a shot.

Shortly after I bought it I read up on acne.org and was disappointed to see all the negative renews.

I just started using it nearly a week ago and so far I do see improvement. I have mild acne and it seems that it is clearing up, though not a big change.

I guess I’ll give it more time and post back.

COMMENT BY SEPPO

Unfortunately most of those positive reviews are not honest. They get paid for every sale they refer.

Hope Clear Pores works for you. Let me know how it turns out.

Does not help acne AT ALL!

Clear pores does not clear acne. The facial wash doesn’t feel anymore effective than water. After using Clear Pores my skin got worse and stayed worse and did not improve. For the $300 you have to pay it’s so not worth trying. Really hope I get the refund they promised.

Bottomline. After three months the only result was skin getting much worse.

Press release: Less effective products are used the longest

It was found that the less effective products are the longer people will continue to use them.

This was reported in the national press a few months ago. They were specifically referring to those expensive anti-aging creams sold to women. Yes, the less effective, the longer they bought and used them.

This reminds me of the “Proactive” scam that has been around for almost 20 years. Does anyone actually believe that diluted alcohol with fragrance and dye really works?

COMMENT BY SEPPO

Though this has nothing to do with Clear Pores it’s quite interesting. I’m reading an interesting book that can add to this. It’s called ‘Habit’. The book says that most of our behavior, purchase and otherwise, is determined by our subconscious habits. Basically we get into the habit of using a product. As we run out we go to the store to get another one without even thinking about it.

That’s probably why these companies tell you to use their product for many months before expecting any results, i.e. Clear Pores, and want to put you on auto-ship programs. That way you just automatically get their products – without even thinking about it.

Again it’s the force of marketing rather than product quality that makes one product outlast another.

Clear Pores helped a bit

My acne is a bit better now than it was before Clear Pores. But it made me break out worse at first with big and painful pimples. I had to wait for months before any positive results.

I did a lot of research and Clear Pores looked like a good choice. Their website looked good and had many positive reviews. I really wanted this to work, but in the end it did very little for me.

It cleared some blackheads, but did little for my moderate acne. My cheeks got a bit better but my t-zone is still a mess. I kept getting big, hard spots that I never got until using Clear Pores.

After three months I just gave up. Another $200 down the drain.

I am sooooo glad I saw this before investing in any products. I almost went for Pronexin, but then I saw a bad review about that. The pronexin review was followed up by a link to clear pores, so i thought that would be worth looking into, and i saw this. Since this appears pretty honest, and doesn’t seem to be advertising anything, I’m gonna trust it. So, if anybody can tell me a product that REALLY WORKS, I would love to hear about it. hit me up on facebook unless you’re a wierdo, then dont, my step dads a cop, k thanxxx ppl

I just started using clear pores and so far so good it not working for me I seem o still be getting pimples on my t zone it’s nt clearing anything up for me I’m going to wait a month and after a month if it still doesn’t work I’m going to stop using it but im sure when u start using a product u should see. Difference straight away but I’ll just wait a d see but I just hope it doesn’t ruin my face cuz my acne isn’t that bad at all
