Acne Guide
by sufferers for sufferers
by John Dunne
review

Acne Guide by Sufferers for Sufferers by John Dunne is one of those low-profile acne ebooks in the market. I recently got my hands on it, and here are my two pennies.

What's good about Acne Guide

Let's start with the positive.

I liked with the fact that this is not a money-making scam. I do believe John Dunne honestly wants to help you. It comes across from his writing. Whether he'll succeed in helping you is another matter.

I also liked the fact that this is not just about diet. He does mention the other aspects of health also. The underlying message in the book is that the health of your skin is linked to your overall health, which is right on the money.

I also liked the fact that he doesn't recommend any supplements.

Finally he does recommend a detox for you (the famous 3-day apple fast).

So overall an honest attempt to get acne sufferers to realize the importance of health, diet and lifestyle.

Where Acne Guide could use a little help

After reading the book and the sales letter I couldn't escape the conclusion that Acne Guide was written by a teenager or someone who just escaped the teen ages. In the sales letter you can see a picture of John at 19 years old. I got the feeling it was taken about the time he finished the book.

Anyway, that shows throughout the book. First, it's full of typos. And I mean full. Just a simple spell check with Word would have solved most of them.

Second, there's no structure in the book. It's all over the place. Like a bunch of advice just slapped together.

I couldn't even figure out the name of the book. So it's at that level.

While the information in the book points to the right direction, it's faaaaar too simplistic to be useful. For example the diet advice is at the level of 'eat more fruits and vegetables and avoid greasy foods'.

Some of the diet advice also made me cringe. Like the one that it's ok to eat two 'munch foods' a day. Munch foods are stuff like chocolate and potato chips. Or the one that soya is good for you and your skin.

You are not going to cure your acne in 7 days, as promised in the sales letter, by following that advice.

I could go on, but I think you get my point.

All and all, Acne Guide by John Dunne is an honest attempt to help acne victims. Still because it's far too simplistic it falls short on being useful to anyone.

If you are completely clueless on the effect of diet on your skin you could get something out of Acne Guide. Still you are better of saving your money as you can get much better information for free.

My free minicourse Acne 101: What Einstein would have done to get clear is one such resource.
